Jim

I remember beating on a set of retro-looking dining room chairs in the basement of our house when I was a teenager.    They were in perfect condition before I decided to make them my drum kit.   My parents were none too happy, to say the least.  They bring it up from time to time in a manner that makes me thing they would still like to be reimbursed for them.   I thought that maybe they would buy me a kit of my own or something.  That never happened.  Unfortunately, I never pursued a drumming career (hobby) after that either, until about six or seven years ago.

Someone at my church encouraged me to go for it if I was still interested in it, which after all this time I still was.  He told me it's never too late to learn.  I almost thought it was since I was already 31, I think, at the time.  I was pushed (not really) behind the drums at church and became part of the worship band.  I've been playing ever since and it's been a blast.    This is the third band I've been in and it's all been a great experience.   All of us in F.O.G. are excited to see how God is going to use us.
I've been a Christian for 12 years and it was a direct result from music - and some nagging from my little sister.  I saw this awesome Christian band, Sacred Warrior, while sitting in a bar, drinking.  I thought to myself, "This is a Christian metal band?"  How could Christian music be this good?  YOu can be a Christian and still have fun?  Well, God was weening me from alcohol during this exact time and I quit sometime soon thereafter.  My sister was also nagging me to come to church with her around that same time.  One day she came down to my room and listed a bunch of reasons why I should come check out church.  One being that the drummer for Sacred Warrior was also the drummer in the worship band.  Another was that she really needed a ride that Sunday.  I got so tired of her asking me that I finally went and I've been going ever since.
I've been married to my wonderful wife, Lucie, for 11 years now and God has blessed us with four great kids, all of them being five years old and under.    Hectic, you say?  You have no idea, but I wouldn't trade them in for nothing.   Give the Lord a shot if you haven't already.  You'll never be the same again...and that's a good thing!
